Yorkshire Air Museum 30 Years of the Buccaneer

As a volunteer in Yorkshire Air Museum’s engineering team, I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering to work with their resident Buccaneers: XX901, XV168, and XN974. In March 2024 the team held an event to celebrate 30 years since the type’s retirement.

As a photographer in my other guise I was asked to cover the event, these images went on to be used in the Buccaneer Buddies magazine that is published by the Buccaneer Aviation Group (TBAG).

This first set of images was taken while a former Buccaneer navigator showed us his logbook with entries for the very aircraft that he was sat in!

Throughout the day, the team spent lots of time talking to the public about the history of the aircraft as well as the public being able to take a seat in XX901, YAM’s desert pink Buccaneer example.

The day also included talks from Matthew, an ex-pilot, and Marcus who is a very young and enthusiastic volunteer on the team.

Finally we move onto the night shoot, again a great experience for attendees and the team alike.
